Do you want to save money on your power bill and do your bit for the environment?
Replace your old lights with new LED technology, household lighting can account for up to 30% of your power bill with that contributing to 12% of your house’s carbon emissions (25% for business).
You can save up to 90% off the lighting portion of your power bill by installing state of the art LED lighting and with power costs expected to rise by 60% over the next couple of years, the installation of new lights will save you in the long run.
Incandescent and halogen lighting is not very efficient with a 12v 50 watt halogen light (plus a transformer using approximately 10 watts) producing 90% heat and only 10% light, as well as not being efficient it also can be a fire hazard with most of the heat been radiated into the roof and has caused house fires. So changing to LED lights you will have better lighting without the heat and saves making your air conditioner from working harder. If you run a business which relies on halogen lighting for displays such as a Jeweller’s shop, the saving in power and the less heat generated can add up to a considerable saving off your running costs.
Even replacing your CFL (compact fluorescent light) will save you money and the environment as LED lights use about half the power and do not contain mercury as CFL do. Plus they have a lot longer lifespan than a standard incandescent bulb as they will last approximately 1,000 hours and CFL’s last 8,000 hours, LED lights have a life span of up to 50,000 hours that is approx. 24 years for a home (6 hours/365 days) or 16 years for your business (10 hours/ 300 days).
Led lights have a bluer white light (6500K), the colour temperature of natural sunlight to that of incandescent lights which have a yellow glow (2800k).
Compare a 60 watt incandescent bulb has a similar light output to a 15 watt CFL and a 4 watt LED bulb, these are easy to replace as they have all the major fitting bases BC, ES and M16 (halogen) and have the style of light to suit your fitting whether it is a spotlight fitting or a general light fitting.
